KENDO USA
The US National Kendo Team (Team USA) is considered to be one of the best kendo teams in the World. Team USA is a tightly bonded group of amateur athletes that must balance work and school obligations with their responsibilities to train and polish their kendo skills as a Team USA representative. Team USA has maintained its place in the Top 3 of the World Kendo Championships since 2003, and remains the only team in the world to have ever defeated Japan in the World Kendo Championships. The Team USA coaching staff consists of individuals who have also dedicated their time as former players of the US National Kendo Team.
What has contributed to Team USA’s success over the past 20 years is the strong relationship between the coaching staff and players, as the coaches pass along the culture of Team USA as well as share their knowledge and past experiences. The current US National Kendo Team consists of 7 Men and 5 Women, along with an additional 7 Men and 2 Women for the Jr. Team USA Program.
